Superclever

The Superclever Program – Mental Arithmetic is designed for children aged 6 to 14, as this is the period in life when the human brain develops most dynamically and forms the greatest number of neural connections.

All programs are offered exclusively in Croatian.

Learning with the abacus

The curriculum is carefully crafted to consider the individual needs of the participants. Children learn using an abacus, a flat tool that facilitates arithmetic operations.

With the abacus, we can teach mental arithmetic and perform operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, squaring, and more. Mental arithmetic represents a deeply ingrained knowledge that will be a valuable tool in helping children solve life’s problems.

The key to developing a child’s skills

Mental arithmetic offers numerous benefits: it enhances concentration and focus on essential aspects, improves learning efficiency across all areas, promotes well-being as children learn through play and without stress, and significantly increases creativity and perseverance in achieving their goals. Considering these advantages, it is important to note that these benefits can be achieved by all children, regardless of their predisposition to mathematics.

Numerous studies show the benefits of mental arithmetic: a fun way of learning, visualization of numbers, concentration and attention exercises, development of speed and accuracy, enhancement of imagination and logic, improved memory, development of mathematical skills, and increased self-confidence.

Mental arithmetic activates both hemispheres of the brain, stimulates the development of synapses, and opens doors to new possibilities for children.

Brain training to enhance mathematical skills

When children are just learning to add, they often use their fingers as their primary aids in solving problems. The issue arises when they move on to more challenging tasks where fingers are no longer an option. The abacus stimulates tactile sensations that affect the brain, significantly increasing the number of neural connections (synapses). The key role of the abacus is brain training.

After mastering calculations with the abacus, students begin “blind” calculations, or visualizing the abacus and performing calculations without paper, pencil, calculator, or any other mathematical aids. Students are then able to perform more complex arithmetic operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—purely through mental calculation.

Fast addition with mental arithmetic

Superclevers use mental arithmetic to quickly add sequences of numbers that our software generates at high speeds! This is something they could never achieve through traditional school learning alone. Our experts have also developed special applications on a unique web platform where participants can practice and compete with other students from all our centers.
